Welcome to Intermediates! We are looking forward to another great week at Camp Luther this year. The theme for Camp Luther 2019 is “Transformed Community: God’s Agent for C.H.A.N.G.E.”. We are planning an exciting week to help us to explore and better understand what is meant by our theme scripture Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect”. Our Intermediate staff is excited to welcome returning and new campers each year and are dedicated to making sure they have a fun, spirit-filled week.
Our Confirmation Class and Camp Course teachers are preparing daily learning activities to help you understand how each day’s selected theme and scripture prepare us for a greater understanding of the week’s overall theme. The evening vesper services are held in beautiful scenic settings and our small group activities help provide a time for team building, sharing and learning that encourages and empowers one’s personal growth.
Each day starts with morning worship, plenty of music and singing to get the blood pumping followed by breakfast. Classes are held between 9 am and 12 pm, then comes lunch. We will assemble to discuss activities for the remainder of the day and handout mail from home. A variety of afternoon activities are available for campers to enjoy, allowing them a time in their day to have fun while building friendships that will last a lifetime. At the close of the afternoon’s activities, all camp gathers for the Five O’clock News (5ON) where we share camper highlights and interesting recaps of the day’s events. Dinner follows the 5ON and then each program has a vesper service, an activity and an end of day cabin devotion to reflect God’s blessings to help deepen our faith.
Evening activities are fun, exciting, encourage teamwork and a time for special memories to be made! Our activities change every year and are mindfully planned to embrace the theme. Traditionally, we hold an Olympics night once during the week, this is a time for team building and plain old-fashioned fun, so plan on bringing old clothes and tennis shoes that can get wet or dirty. Intermediates are usually invited to attend the Senior Dance on Thursday, campers enjoy dressing up a bit for this but nothing too fancy or expensive is required. We will conclude our week with a Directory Signing and Slide Show to provide a time of fellowship and reflect upon the memories made before we part our separate ways.
Whether you are a first-year camper or are a returning camper, you will find that the staff and campers in the Intermediate program will create memories and develop friendships that will forever change your life, for the better. Our program challenges each camper to learn more about themselves, how their faith plays an important part in who they are and strive to be throughout their life as they go forth and serve God and others. When we leave on Saturday we will begin counting down the days until we all gather on the hillside of Camp Luther once again!
Hope to see you at Camp Luther this year and for many years to come.
Peace and Love,
Tim and Robyn Rice
